April 2022 Social evening –
Social Secretary Jane Carr writes:
“I have provisionally reserved tables at The Bush Inn, HR4 8EH, for a social on Tuesday 19th April, 7.00 for 7.30 prompt dinner.
The Pub has asked for confirmation of numbers for dinner by 12.00 Tuesday 12th April. (If you want to join for drinks only I’m sure that would be fine) . Please confirm attendance ASAP, but by 12.00 on Tuesday 12th April. A menu will be distributed.
We all look forward to, what we hope will be, the first social of many.”

Committee meeting followed by a Spring Social meeting – held on Tuesday the 10th of March 2020 at the Left Bank, Hereford. David Johnson gave a talk on navigating up the river Avon to Bristol.
December Christmas dinner – to be held on Friday the 13th of December at the Bell Inn, Tillington
Annual General meeting – to be held at the Bunch of Carrots, Hampton Bishop, Hereford on Thursday January the 9th at 7:30 p.m..
November Social evening – an informal meeting in the bar of Hereford Rowing Club at 7:30 p.m. on FRIDAY November the 8th.
October 10th – Committee meeting at 7:30 followed by a social evening at Hereford Rowing Club.
(Note that there were no social events in July/August/September)
June Social evening – an informal meeting in the bar of Hereford Rowing Club at 7:30 p.m. on June the 6th.
May Social evening – an informal meeting in the bar of Hereford Rowing Club at 7:30 p.m. on May the 9th.
March evening – informal meeting in the bar of Hereford Rowing Club at 7:30 p.m. on March the 7th.
February Social evening – informal meeting in the bar of Hereford Rowing Club at 7:30 p.m. on February the 7th.
AGM 2019 – This was held on the 10th of January 2019 at The Bunch of Carrots, Hampton Bishop, Hereford
December Social evening – Christmas dinner – This was held on Thursday the 6th of December at the Bell Inn, Tillington
November Social evening – This was a talk entitled “England and the sea” by world-famous author Sam Llewellyn on Thursday the 8th of November at 7:30 p.m. in the function room of the Hereford Rowing Club.
October Social evening – Talk by Tony Ditcham D.S.C. on his wartime experiences in the R.N. and post-war leisure sailing.
September Social evening – none arranged
August Social evening – This was an informal meeting held on Thursday 2nd August 2018 in the bar of the Hereford Rowing Club.
July Social evening – Thursday 5 July 2018 at Hereford Rowing Club – an informal meeting at the bar.
June Social Evening – This was held at the Bunch of Carrots, Hampton Bishop, Hereford HR1 4JR and consisted of an RYA First Aid refresher evening given by Aubrey, who is a certified RYA instructor. Aubrey summarised the RYA syllabus in order to bring holders of the ticket back up to speed (http://www.aubreywallismarine.co.uk/). All such HSC talks are an opportunity for non-members to informally meet skippers and other members and officers of the club.
May Social Evening – Held on Thursday May 3rd at Hereford Rowing Club, this was a talk by lifetime member John Thomas on his days as skipper of a sail training vessel. John Thomas, a founder member of HSC, gave a talk about his 3 years skippering the 98 foot sail training vessel Prolific for the Orust Maritime School at Hälleviksstrand on the west coast of Sweden. John was offered his post as skipper of Prolific by Orust principal Holger Formgren whom he trained as Yachtmaster in the UK. John skippered her maiden voyage from Hälleviksstrand to Lowestoft, and spent a further 3 years on her.
April Social Evening – Held on Thursday April 5th at Hereford Rowing Club.
March Social Evening – Held on Thursday March 8th at 7:30 at Hereford Rowing Club.
February Social Evening – A dinner held on Thursday February 8th at 7:30 at the Bell Inn.
AGM – Thursday 18 January 2018 19:00 for 19:30, – at The Bunch of Carrots, Hampton Bishop, Hereford. The AGM was preceded by a short talk on the development of Global Positioning System technology by GPS pioneer Leslie Wray.
